Every MLM business owner wants to focus more on income generating activities.

The reality is there are just too many little things that must be done.  For most, there is simply never enough time.

Let me introduce you to the Productivity Pyramid.

This concept will help you manage your time more effectively. It will help you focus on the activities that are ABSOLUTELY going to make you the most money.

The productivity pyramid will help you –shift your thinking– to find and recruit talented people to do everything but the critical tasks you must focus on.

The Productivity Pyramid is made up of 4 categories.  Think about where you are spending your time…

1. 1. “Completely useless” activities

These are made up of activities that will not make you income but will cost you money.  They include:

1. Worrying about things you can not control
2. Checking bank accounts just to see the money
3. Checking unimportant stats
4. Frequently checking emails out of boredom
5. Watching the news, TV or things that distract you
6. Not being productive with social media or networking events

1. 2. “Low Dollar Per Hour” activities

These are activities that must be done, but are pretty simple and basic activities that wouldn’t necessarily require you to do them.  They include:

1. Small errands
2. Administrative work
3. Paper work, accounting
4. Repetitive tasks for your business
5. Small technical thinks

These activities typically fall under the $10 per hour kind of work.  What you want to be doing is staying very conscious of where your time is being spent.

1. 3. “High Value” activities

These are the things you do that actively make you money.  These may include:

1. Prospecting for new customers/clients
2. Specific marketing tasks that bring new traffic for your business
3. Increasing your web presence and conversion
4. Finding the right partners to outsource
5. Refining your marketing campaigns

These activities typically are worth about $50 – $100 per hour.  If you outsource these be sure you are working with talented people to get the job done.

It is often the case that business owners attempt to do their own SEO, PPC, graphic design or social media marketing campaigns.  In most cases it is smarter to outsource it to a specialist who knows how to do things 10 times more effectively then we could any ways.

1. 4. “Life Time Value” activities

These are the actions that will produce you the most wealth over time and are truly the most valuable when it comes to you operating a more successful business. They may include:

1. Relationship building with key partners, forging partnerships that will last a lifetime.
2. Focusing on the areas where you are MOST talented and most productive.
3. Learning more, building your own value, educating yourself so that you know more about how to be a better marketer and entrepreneur to bring more value to your clients which will create more profits for you.
4. Developing yourself so you have more emotional awareness, energy and strength to get even more done and advance at a faster pace.

These are the kind of activities that will really allow your business to go from good to great.  It mostly has to do with your ability to develop and expand your skills at a higher level, to create new relationships and to surround yourself with high performers.

A recent survey indicated that 83% of women hate their facebook friends.

Come on ladies, can’t you get along. You are acting like a bunch of rookie network marketers.  LOL

This is sort of funny and sort of sad but most people go about prospecting on Facebook in similar ways…the wrong ways.

Instead of focusing on building a good relationship first, desperate opportunity seekers act like a sexed up horny teenager and they want to jump in the bed right away.

That approach does not work to well for creating long love life and it certainly does not work too well when you make a friend request and pitch your business at the same time.

It seems some people are clueless.

Sure, everyone can talk “at” prospects but REALLY listening and connecting with them, having them ‘get’ that you ‘get’ them is a whole other ball game.

To do this properly there are some foundational things that you must do in every conversation. You must know who you are looking for, where you want them to go with you. And most of all, you must be able to paint a picture of new possibilities with your prospect as they share their dreams and goals.

Done properly, they will follow you anywhere.  Remember, people (your prospects) join people (leaders/you).

Yes, whether you are building online or offline these principles are the same.

“To Brand Or Build? That Is The Question…”

Ever ask yourself that question?

With all the hype around the concept of attraction marketing many people wonder:

“What should I be focusing on in my business right now, building my brand or building my downline?”

This is a point of confusion for many, so let me share a little bit of insight on this exact question, which, once digested, will bring clarity to exactly what you should be doing to drive the bottom line in your home business online, but first . . .

A quick definition: What does “attraction marketing” really mean?

Attraction marketing, as a concept, is interesting, genius, and misunderstood.

At its base level, it has an almost magically enticing appeal – “How great would that be if I could just attract people that asked me proactively if I would do them the honor of letting them join my business? Yeah… I want to learn how to do that!”

For that, it’s genius, but the major misconception about all this is to HOW this “magical attraction” occurs.

To many, it means – “Go brand yourself.  Be bigger than life. Be the vision of what my prospects want and like magic, they will appear,” but …

The truth of the matter is, all that “attraction marketing” is, is online direct response marketing.

***Direct response marketing is the science of finding the people most likely to say yes to what you have to offer, then letting them know that you have what they want, and finally offering it to them in an irresistible way.***

Remember, this process is driven by logical questions that anyone can ask, find answers to, and reap the rewards of.

But …

At its basal level it’s not about “brand building” and that’s what causes the confusion.

Questions we all should be asking

You can answer these questions silently to yourself as I go on.

No, forget I said that.

Write down on a piece of paper each of these questions after you read them.

- Who is my ideal prospect?

- What is their biggest nagging, embracing, and painful problem?

- Where do they hang out?

- Can I get in front of them in a cost effective way?

- How large is their community?

- What can I offer that’s slightly different and better than everyone else?

Now, you go about answering those questions, planning your course of action to find your ideal prospects, lure them in with exactly what they’re salivating for, carry on a conversation to identify with them in their vernacular, offer them your solution, and a profitable business you shall have.

But … Why do I go through all that?

Because without understanding the true definition of attraction marketing, addressing the question of “To Brand Of Build?” that we started with would lack depth and understanding.

Attraction marketing is more about, finding, communicating, and offering, than it is about simply “being” something “attractive” and waiting for the powerful magnetic force to drive results.

In other words, it’s totally action oriented in nature.

The person who concerns themselves with building their personal brand at the inception of their business with out thinking about their ideal prospect is in my opinion, wasting a good deal of time.

Sure know who you are, your talents, interests, passions and where you are going, that’s important but say clear on your desired outcome.

If done properly, you will be on your way to converting visitors into money and new recruits.

Here’s how to begin building your business (and your brand) . . .it takes work just so you know.

Start by mentally thinking about what of VALUE you want to provide to your target market.

Get to work on creating the expertise and results for the area of value you ultimately want to share, and …

As you make new breakthroughs and discoveries, share them.

When you’re good enough, put together an entire “How to” webinar or an eBook.

Perhaps a beginner’s course for the person struggling in that area you’re now mastering.

Offer your insights in that guide:

- Your foundational philosophical marketing principles for success

- What NOT to do

- What to do

- A step-by-step implementation process for realizing results from your material

- A barometer for how to know when they’re on the right track

And finally . . .

- How to translate that first success into bigger ones.

Once you’ve done that, your brand is your expertise, you’re profiting by your expertise, and no doubt…

People will come “a knocking” for how to work closer with you.

Build the skill, share the knowledge, and the by-product will be your brand.

I personally stumbled across this video in a rather hidden corner of the online world and wanted to share it with you my loyal reader.

The strategies and tactics that Jay shares will blow you away.

They are simple and yet profound.

Jay presents his system of http://Amazon.com for copy writing, but if you pay attention, almost every word he says is packed with a mini-copy writing course.

I encourage you to watch his video several times and I promise you will learn something new each time you go through it.

There’s Magical Money in Titles

For HUGE payoffs study the titles.  Finding and analyzing the empathy, the heart-felt polarization, focusing on frustration instead of hatred as the opposite of love in selling, and on and on and on.

I get a new gem every time I watch it.

Jay recommends that you look through the 100 top selling books on Amazon in your niche and use Amazon’s well-designed and monitored information to guide your copy.

Obviously many of the titles, subtitles and what he calls cross titles will be some of the best researched, at least the most successful, sales writing in the world.

He says you can’t copyright a title, so this is really fertile food for thought.

So, if you are promoting a fat loss program you are going to love this approach.

The Customer Reviews Gold Mine

The killer for me was his strategy for customer reviews.

Jay recommends making two lists, one with comments from positive reviews and one with things from negative reviews.

Both sides are usually spontaneous, sincere, emotional (hear-felt) and highly informative as to what people in the niche want badly or are extremely frustrated with.

I even see possibilities of expanding this method beyond Jay’s use.

For instance, if you need to come up with persona ideas for a persona-based presell campaign; you can get great stuff in these reviews. Some personas almost jump off the page at you. These are real personas that are already in the customer base, not ones you imagine might work.

Also, Amazon is not the only place to seek sincere polarized heartfelt opinions from readers.

Epinions comes to mind. I am sure there are many sites like that.

I just did a search with Google using different keywords and the results are highly encouraging.

For instance, here are some search possibilities:

“customer reviews” “keyword term”
“reader reviews” “keyword term”
“client reviews” “keyword term”
“member reviews” “keyword term”

Jackpot.

I’m sure you will fine some pure gold just sitting there waiting to be used for your niche.

“Every presentation should really be a conversation with your prospect.”

You must make a personal connection.  When you do, they will follow you any where.

For quick “infallible copy” (Abraham’s term, not mine), this method can’t be beat.

Nor can Amazon as a source for that matter.
